Searching for publisher name in "All Fields" issue

Natalia Garea Garcia

Dear colleagues,

We have imported a set of records into VuFind and we would like users to be able to find them if they search for the publisher name on the “All Fields” search. At the moment, they can be found by title, author and subject, but to find them by publisher a user would have to go to the advanced search option and specifically select to search on the publisher field. It only seems to be happening with that specific set of records and I am not sure why.

Do you have any suggestions on how to fix this issue?

Many thanks for your help!

Kind regards,

Hi Natalia,

my suggestion is, to have a look on the configuration file
'searchspecs.yaml'.
You just have to add the field 'publisher' or more fuzzy 'publisherStr'
in the section for “All Fields”.

Sorry,

I wrote nonsense.

'publisherStr' isn't fuzzy at all. It is indexed as phrase and more
precise than 'publisher', It even case sensitive.

Are you saying that you would like to add a Publisher option to the main drop-down menu? If so, you can just copy the publisher line from the [Advanced_Searches] section to the [Basic_Searches] section in your searches.ini file (see https://github.com/vufind-org/vufind/blob/master/config/vufind/searches.ini#L106). If, on the other hand, the problem is that when you search for the publisher name, you get no results, that may be an indexing problem. As Uwe said, you could boost publisher results by adding the publisher field to searchspecs.yaml; however, the text of the publisher name should already be indexed under normal circumstances as part of the "allfields" field. If that is not happening, further investigation may be required.

I hope this is helpful -- let me know if you need help or more details in following up either of these possibilities.
